Chronology of cameras Ciro

The first advertisement I found in my American magazines for a Ciro-Flex dates back to March 1941. The camera is presented as a novelty. At that time, the Ciro brand was located in Detroit (100 East Atwater St). The model shown in the advertisement was sold for $42.50. It is described as having a shutter speed range from 1/10 to 1/200th of a second. The taking lens was a Wollensak Velostigmat 3.5/83 mm.
By September, the lens is indicated as having a focal length of 85 mm. In November, the price increased to $52.50.
A later brochure presents a slightly wider range of models. The models are named from B to E. All models have an 85 mm lens and not an 83 mm as in the March 1941 advertisement. It can be assumed that this advertisement represented model A, but in the advertisements encountered, this name is never mentioned.
In the meantime, the company moved from Michigan to Ohio. Brochures present the new manufacturing location.
Ciro-Flex cameras are twin-lens reflex 6 x 6 cm cameras using 120 film. Focusing is done by moving the front plate that supports the two lenses. Patent 2,495,355 from January 24, 1950, protects this focusing system. Its inventor, Rodolphe Stahl, has filed numerous patents since the early 1920s, but this is the only one in the photographic field. Most of his patents are related to the automobile industry.

The Ciro-Flex models are differentiated by their shutter and the presence of a flash sync socket. They are all equipped with a Wollensak Velostigmat 3.5 lens.
